You can connect an Ethereum digital wallet address to the .locker app. This allows you to use your .locker digital identity with digital wallets that use the Ethereum Naming System (ENS) resolver, like MetaMask or Phantom. There are no gas fees for .locker names!

Before You Start

  • Be sure to use the latest versions of supported browsers. The .locker app works with Chrome, Brave, Edge, and Opera. Allow all pop-ups and third party cookies. If you can’t find the digital wallet window at any time, be sure your browser window is not blocking it
  • You must have a Bitcoin digital wallet connected to the .locker app before you can connect an Ethereum digital wallet
  • You must be logged in to both your digital wallet and the .locker app
  • Ensure you are connected to Ethereum mainnet in your wallet
  • Make sure you are entering your public Ethereum wallet address (the one that starts with 0x and is safe to share)
  • Be mindful of safety and security practices. Never share your private key or seedphrase with anyone- including .locker! .locker will never request this information from you. Only approve requests coming from your digital wallet extension or app.my.locker. Always double check that URLs are correct before completing any activities.

How to Connect an Ethereum Digital Wallet

In the .locker app dashboard under the “Addresses” tab, scroll down to find the Ethereum Address section. Click the plus sign next to the Ethereum Address section.

Click “Connect Wallet” to initiate the configuration with your digital wallet provider. You will be able to choose from a variety of digital wallets that are compatible with the ENS resolver. Choose your provider and follow the prompts to sign the transaction.

When connected, you will receive a confirmation modal. Your Ethereum address will be visible in the .locker app’s dashboard.

Troubleshooting

Try the below tips and tricks to help resolve any setup issues.

Digital wallet is not detected in the connect window.

Try:

  • Unlocking your digital wallet and then refresh app.my.locker
  • If using Brave, lower shields for app.my.locker or allow third-party device recognition for the tab
  • Disable other extensions that can intercept the request and then refresh app.my.locker
  • Check that you are not in a private or incognito browser session where the digital wallet extension is disabled

Nothing Happens when clicking connect or the plus icon.

Try:

  • Confirming your digital wallet is on the Ethereum mainnet, not a testnet or another chain
  • Clear your browser’s cache and cookies and then refresh app.my.locker

Digital wallet pop-up does not appear.

Try:

  • Checking for hidden windows behind your main browser window or in the toolbar of your digital wallet icon
  • Confirm your browser allows for pop-ups from app.my.locker
  • Click your digital wallet’s extension icon and look for pending connection or signature requests

I connected the wrong digital wallet or account.

Try:

  • Opening your digital wallet, selecting the intended account, and then reconnect from app.my.locker
  • If you use a hardware digital wallet via MetaMask, pick the correct derivation account in the “Connect Hardware Wallet” step
  • Disconnecting from app.my.locker from within the digital wallet settings, refreshing, and connecting again

My transaction fails or gets stuck when approving the connection.

Try:

  • Waiting a few minutes and approving the connection again
  • Checking that your Ethereum wallet is unlocked and set to Ethereum mainnet

I received an error mentioning RPC, chain ID, or provider issues.

Try:

  • Restarting the digital wallet extension and the browser
  • Removing custom networks in the digital wallet, then switch to the Ethereum mainnet and try connecting
