You can add an Ethereum digital wallet address to the .locker app. This allows you to use your .locker digital identity with apps that use the Ethereum Naming System (ENS) resolver, like MetaMask or Uniswap. There are no gas fees for .locker names!
Before You Start
- Be sure to use the latest versions of supported browsers. The .locker app works with Chrome, Brave, Edge, and Opera. Allow all pop-ups and third party cookies. If you can’t find the digital wallet window at any time, be sure your browser window is not blocking it
- You must have a Bitcoin digital wallet connected to the .locker app before you can connect an Ethereum digital wallet
- You must be logged in to both your digital wallet and the .locker app
- Ensure you are connected to Ethereum mainnet in your wallet
- Make sure you are entering your public Ethereum wallet address (the one that starts with 0x and is safe to share)
- Be mindful of safety and security practices. Never share your private key or seedphrase with anyone- including .locker! .locker will never request this information from you. Only approve requests coming from your digital wallet extension or app.my.locker. Always double check that URLs are correct before completing any activities.
How to Add an Ethereum Address
In the .locker app dashboard under the “Addresses” tab, scroll down to find the Ethereum Address section. Click “Add an Address.” Enter your Ethereum address in this box and click “Add.” Follow the prompts to sign the transaction.

Troubleshooting
Try the below tips and tricks to help resolve any setup issues.
The address is shown as invalid.
Try:
- Checking that the address is an Ethereum address. Ethereum addresses start with 0x and are 42 characters long
- Do not paste seed phrases, private keys, or transaction hashes in this box
The address is not recognized as yours.
Try:
- Checking that the Ethereum address is correct and is actually yours. Only add addresses that you control. If you’re using an exchange or custodial address, you may not be able to sign to prove ownership
- If using a hardware digital wallet through MetaMask, ensure that you are using the exact account the address is associated with
I get a duplicate address error.
Try:
- Viewing the Ethereum Address section in the .locker app dashboard to see if the address already exists
- If you previously added an address, try editing the existing address instead of adding it again
I didn’t receive a confirmation after adding the address.
Try:
- Checking for a pending signature or pending transaction prompt in your digital wallet
- Removing any pop-up blockers from the browser
- If you accidentally dismissed the confirmation, try adding the address again to view the confirmation
My transaction or signature fails when trying to add my Ethereum address.
Try:
- Confirming your digital wallet is on the Ethereum mainnet
- Trying again after a short wait in case there is network congestion
